I am a stay at home mom of 2 beautiful kids, and 3 furry kids that I love with all my heart. With the love I have for animals big and small I try to provide the best things I can for my pets, but sometimes the thing I want to get for them are to expensive.
I started to make my cozy bags and other accessories when I got my baby guinea pigs Gracie and Midnight. They were very small, skittish and unsure of us. I wanted them to feel comfortable and secure, so that they could get used to us and become part of our family.
So the next day I searched the Internet to see what I could find, and I came across cozy sacks or sleep sacks. Whatever you may call them the idea was brilliant. Babies and animals all alike get comfort from soft warm things. The only problem was they were very expensive.
The next day I set out for the store to find affordable fabric to make these bags for my piggies. I settled on fleece and cotton. Fleece is soft, warm and wicks moisture away from the animal, while the cotton is absorbent and cool in the summer. They are both easy to take care of too. Just throw it in the wash, and with pets you want clean-up to be easy.
As soon as I was done making the bag I put it in the cage and to my surprise the girls just went right in there. I was able to pick them up that day, and hold them for over an hour. They mostly stayed in the bag just peaking there head out to look at me, but it was well worth the effort to make these bags. Slowly but surly every day that I held them they came out of the bag more and more to just hang out on my chest. I could tell that a bond was forming with my girl piggies.
They are 4 weeks old now and I see how much comfort it brings to them. The bags also helped my children get over the fear of handling our new pets, so that they get to know each other and a bond could form with them.
Now that I have seen how popular the cozy sleep sacks are with my girls I decided to make them a toy that has a double purpose, so I came up with a tunnel version of the sleep sack. This has openings on both sides that they can use to run through while they play, or just as a warm place to sleep or snuggle.
The amount of success we had with my products prompted me to start Yuliyagoolia's Small Animal Comforts to make them available to everyone, with tons of choices and affordable prices anyone can afford to spoil there pet.
