I went to this vet because both of my boars had visible lice. He did what seemed to be a thorough examination and was very friendly through the whole thing. However, the diet advice he gave me was a little off and he kept using the terms "lice" and "mites" interchangeably, which was rather confusing, among a couple other little things. I was also surprised at the bill, as I told the vet tech I scheduled the appointment with that I was pretty sure they had lice, and they quoted me with a price that was almost $100 less than the final bill. I realize that most vets probably do this, but it was still frustrating. Overall he seemed like he knew quite a bit more about guinea pigs than the average vet, but less than I would prefer.

Also, he is very allergic to guinea pigs, so he wears a mask and gloves when working with them. When we walked in, we were immediately given an exam room to wait in while we filled out paperwork so he wouldn't chance being near them when he wasn't wearing the mask. (As in: *walk in* "Are those the guinea pigs? Quick, follow me in here RIGHT NOW!" as the tech speed-walked to the room)

Thank you for the thorough review. Honestly, to be off by $100 on a price quote for an office visit with only possible treatment for lice or mites is NOT a typical experience to be written off. Thank you for sharing.
